David Perry Product ManagerKverneland Group UK I’m David Perry, I grew up in rural Shropshire with both sets of Grandparents farming. One primarily Dairy, the other Arable. I studied Agricultural Engineering at College. I worked for a local Agricultural engineer before moving onto a local Arable and poultry farm where I operated machines in the spring, summer, and autumn and worked in the workshop in the Winter. I then worked for a family farm that also carried out contracting work before starting at Kverneland Group in 2014. Outside of work, I enjoy making/building/repairing things in the workshop at home and competing in local ploughing matches. I am currently Vice Chairman for Cruckton Ploughing and Hedging Society. After a second judging seminar with the Society of Ploughmen, I have now judged two ploughing matches, the first an inter-university competition at Harper Adams, and the second one was at a local Young Farmers club match. At home, over the last 12 months, we have been carrying out an extension and renovation on our cottage. Then in April, my wife gave birth to twins, a girl and a boy so we are thoroughly looking forward to adventures with them as they grow up. I started at Kverneland Group in 2014 as a product demonstrator for the North West along with 3 others demonstrating the Kverneland branded products. In 2015 my role adapted where I took on some service responsibility alongside demonstrating, this included working with the Vicon team at the time. In 2017 the Key Account Manager for my local area left to start his own dealership so I stepped up to take on this role. Then in 2023 following Dan Crowes appointment as Managing Director, I took on his previous role as Forage and Feeding Product manager covering all brands for the UK. This also includes the Siloking range of Diet Feeders for the UK. My role now covers all of the UK but I still live in North Shropshire, 8 miles from where I grew up. There are 3 main reasons I enjoy working at Kverneland Group:
The Team. From day 1 starting with Kverneland Group the team has had a tight-knit bond, we may not see each other day to day when driving long hours, working remotely, or when working with the dealers but you can be sure when any help or advice is needed regardless of the time of day, there is always someone there to offer advice or solve a problem. That is not only the field team, but also the internal staff in the office as well. Over the last couple of years, I’ve seen colleagues retire after 40 + years of service and when each one left, they all remarked on the team spirit of Kverneland Group UK.
The Product. I have always believed in the Kverneland group product and had the confidence to go out promoting it. Growing up on a dairy farm has always kept livestock farming close to my heart and I feel very privileged to now specialize in this area of the product range. I also believe the future developments on the roadmaps will help strengthen the Kverneland Group brands long into the future.
Variety. Every day is different and presents new challenges. One day I can be at the office forecasting and ordering machines, I can be in Denmark visiting the factory, and another I can be on a remote Island off the coast of Scotland supporting a dealer running an event. Also, the variety of customers and farm types I see. From the southwest of England to Islands off the North coast of Scotland, the climate varies greatly which leads to all kinds of different types of farming practices just within my product area. Also, farming is constantly evolving with new trends being trialled constantly.
